Regenerative Design Thinking
The discipline of design thinking turns challenges into opportunity areas. Regenerative design thinking focuses on adding positive value for entire eco-systems. Regenerative development is centred around the idea that the earth can be healed and regenerated through human development.
Why do people do what they do? How do they live? What are their challenges in life? How might we best identify the uniqueness of a community and build on that? How might we initiate regenerative development? How might we create thriving systems? How do we bridge disparate stakeholder interests to envision a better future for the good of all living systems?
I strategise based on problems and the needs they foster. I push for creating new visions. I help facilitate multi-stakeholder processes to arrive at value adding systemic solutions. I lead teams and processes from a mindset based on regenerative practises.
We get to the root of the problem by staying in the question and deconstructing complex issues. I believe we need to have a holistic view of the systemic value added by any solution we offer.
FROM PROBLEM TO IMPLEMENTATION
My work motivation is creating lasting change for people, societies and ecosystems, I work to create relationships and build trust. I therefore prefer to work inhouse and/or with agencies that do final implementation.
To understand the complexity of human context, we have to use our training, empathy, analytic mind, intuition, and combined experience. In design thinking, we also use our creative powers to synthesise. It’s not all about numbers and data, it’s about how we as experienced creatives know how to digest and process insights and challenge domains. Once we know our problem, we meet our opportunity. Then we start designing.
